Now in its 34th year, the Clarington Concert Band is a volunteer community band and is the principal community wind ensemble in the Clarington area. The band was formed in 1992 and continues a 177-year-old town band tradition in the Clarington area that dates from the earliest documented band concert in Bowmanville in 1848. The Band is incorporated in Ontario as a not-for-profit organization (Corporation number 1406151) and is a federally registered charity (charitable business number 891867848RR0001).

In a resolution passed at City Council on December 7, 2009, permission was granted to the Clarington Concert Band to use or present itself as the Official Town Band of Clarington.

Today, the Band is a 45-player strong ensemble of brass, woodwind, and percussion players and comprises both amateurs and seasoned professional musicians who hail from all parts of Durham Region, as well as surrounding areas in and around the GTA.

The band performs a wide range of music, from classical music through big band arrangements, movie scores, selections from Broadway musicals, and seasonal favourites. We proudly celebrate Canadian composers and performers.

The band operates year-round performing in Clarington and surrounding Municipalities. We present our own concerts, and are also regularly invited to perform at parades and other community celebrations. A typical season would include 

• Fall and Spring Concerts

• Park Concerts (Bowmanville, Newcastle, Orono)

• Christmas Concerts and parades

• Senior Citizen Complexes

• Local Community Fairs, Festivals and other Celebrations

The Clarington Concert Band is proud to bring the sound of live musical performances to audiences and at the same time provide musicians with an outlet to display their talents.
