History

Now in it’s 31st year, The Clarington Concert Band for all of its existence, has been a volunteer community band and is the principal community wind ensemble in the Clarington area. The band was formed in 1992, and continues a 144-year-old town band tradition in the Clarington area that dates from the earliest documented band concert in Bowmanville in 1848.

In a resolution passed at City Council on December 7, 2009, permission was granted to the Clarington Concert Band to use or present itself as the Official Town Band of Clarington.

The Band is a 35-player strong ensemble of brass, woodwind and percussion players and comprises both amateurs and seasoned professional musicians who hail from all parts of Durham Region, as well as surrounding areas in and around the GTA.

The band performs a wide repertoire of music that includes transcriptions of classical music, original compositions, big band arrangements, movie scores, Broadway musicals, traditional marches and the occasional Strauss waltz.


The band operates year-round performing in Clarington and surrounding Municipalities. Public appearances include:


The Clarington Concert Band is proud to bring the sound of live musical performances to audiences and at the same time provide musicians with an outlet to display their talents
